Buyers research shows energy efficiency is a must have
Analysis from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Realtor.com show that buyers on every level prioritize energy efficient features in new homes.
Their high-end survey respondents rated 69 different features as “strongly wanted.” Included in that was energy efficient and green features. This trend continues into the entry-level buyers market, deeming energy efficient components like Energy Star–rated appliances a must have.
Their respondents also included other factors as a selling point like outdoor spaces. As homes shrink in size, the outdoors is an extension of their livable space.
“Outdoor features are important for both groups of people,” said NAHB assistant vice president for survey research, Rose Quint. “This is where I would concentrate any extra money that you may have, in adding some of these features to the home.”
