Energy Efficiency Incentives Beyond 45L

Changes from the current administration have made unpredictable impacts to federal energy efficiency incentives such as the 45L tax credit. As a result, developers should turn towards local incentives for building energy-efficient homes. States along the east coast such as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Jersey have incentives for homes that meet passive house or zero-net energy standards. Other states and municipalities also have incentives for ENERGY STAR certification and being below certain electricity usage thresholds, demonstrating there are more opportunities than the disappearing federal 45L tax credit.
