New York Governor Announces Completion of Center City Courtyard

Governor of New York Kathy Hochul announced the completion of a 164-unit, $72 million affordable and supportive housing development in Rochester. Known as Center City Courtyard, the development was part of Governor Hochul’s $25 billion five-year housing plan to create/preserve 100,000 homes.

Development of the community called for the construction of an all-electric five-story building that is energy efficient. It is designed to meet U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home and Environmental Protection Agency Indoor AirPlus criteria. The development features rooftop solar panels and high-efficiency air source heat pumps.

Earlier, Governor Hochul announced a $176 million plan to provide infrastructure funding to projects removing harmful contaminants from water lines. Rochester’s new housing development is another commitment to using New York State resources to serve local communities.

All of the Center City Courtyard apartments are affordable to households earning below 80% of the Area Median Income. Additionally, 95 of the 164 units are reserved with supportive services for households at risk of homelessness, including veterans.
