ABC Green HomeZero Energy Design

Our Next Hybrid Net-Zero Demonstration Home Begins

Integrating high-performance building materials with luxury and sustainability

Celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a modern agrarian design, this multi-certified, 4,500-square-foot demonstration home builds on a 15-year, multiple award-winning legacy, bringing together industry leaders to deliver verified performance, advanced building technology and a national showcase platform for the future of housing.

The ABC Green Home 5.0 TerraVerde project represents the next evolution in high-performance residential construction, uniting innovation, proven building science and a forward-looking vision for how Americans will live in the decades ahead. As a multi-certified demonstration home, TerraVerde is designed to deliver verified performance through 12 advanced independent energy certifications, establishing a new benchmark for what is possible in attainable, resilient housing.

The home integrates advanced technologies that support energy efficiency, water conservation and overall livability.

This milestone project continues a 15-year, multiple award-winning legacy for the ABC Green Home program, which has consistently demonstrated how cutting-edge design and building systems can be translated into real-world applications for builders nationwide.

The design team has embraced a modern, agrarian and vernacular architectural theme that reflects both heritage and progress. Leading the architectural vision is John Danielian, AIA and the team at Irvine, California-based Danielian Associates Architects + Planners. John previously designed the Gold Nugget and NAHB Green Award-winning ABC Green Home 3.0, bringing a proven track record of design excellence and high-performance leadership to this next-generation project.

TerraVerde is not a concept home reserved for a niche market, but a practical, buildable solution that any production or custom builder could deliver for an American family anywhere in the country. This accessibility remains central to the mission of the program.

Health, wellness and sustainability are experienced in everyday life, using products sourced from Builder Media’s advertisers.

A key differentiator of the project is that the materials selected are not theoretical or difficult to source. They are widely available products, specified from the trusted advertisers and partners across Builder Media’s magazine, website and newsletter platforms, ensuring that builders can readily adopt and implement these solutions in their own communities.

Longstanding partners continue to play a defining role. Reliable Lumber returns for its fifth ABC Green Home, introducing advanced robotics technology to deliver precision-built wall and floor cassette systems that improve quality, reduce waste and accelerate construction timelines. LP Corp also marks its fifth participation, contributing its FlameBlock, TechShield and SmartSide products to enhance fire resistance, energy performance and long-term durability.

This multi-certified, 4,500-square-foot demonstration home builds on a 15-year, multiple award-winning legacy.

TerraVerde is more than a home; it is a national platform. Through Builder Media’s channels, participating brands are showcased to the national builder and design community, while also engaging consumers who are increasingly focused on performance, health, wellness and sustainability.

Participating partners will work directly with the architect and consultants to refine specifications, highlight meaningful performance attributes, integrate systems holistically and showcase materials in their most authentic and effective application. Each product partner receives guaranteed product placement, national editorial exposure and category exclusivity across Builder Media’s multiple platforms.

The home integrates advanced technologies that support energy efficiency, indoor air quality, water conservation and overall livability, ensuring that health, wellness and sustainability is experienced in everyday life.

The project will debut as a fully immersive online model with interactive materials and web linked systems offering access to brands online, before moving into construction in 2027.
