RESNET launches program to remotely inspect houses
The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) leads into a new era of green building and introduces a program to remotely inspect houses. RESNET upholds standards for building energy efficiency ratings. The program will also expand to inspect modular homes and other off-site built projects. The Off-Site Construction Advisory Group includes Chair Steve Byers of EnergyLogic, Bruce Bennett of GDS Associates Inc., Chris Isom of Vederra, Luke Lehman of ICC NTA Tony Lisanti of Integral Building + Design, Inc., Ryan Meres of RESNET and Shanti Pless of NREL.
This will effectively allow home inspections and HERS (Home Energy Rating System) ratings to occur on modular builds without a rater being physically present. The pilot program will begin in October and last for 12 months. RESNET sees the expansion of HERS Ratings of off-site construction program as an important element in meeting their goal of a million ratings a year by the end of 2028.
