Green Project of the Week: The Bridge

Nestled in the oldest neighborhood in Ann Arbor, MI, The Bridge combines timeless craftsmanship with the future of sustainable living. Significantly, it is designed to generate more energy than it consumes, a remarkable feat in homebuilding sustainability. The project seeks multiple green building certifications, including Passive House (PHIUS-Zero), LEED Platinum, and the Living Building Challenge.

The homes are 100% solar powered, with panels on the roof and covered solar parking. Other features that assist in the sustainability include geothermal heating and cooling, low-voltage lighting, hot water circulation and efficient plumbing. Additionally, the custom build sets the home apart. Inside the Bridge, you will find hand made custom cabinets, smart home technology, a Swiss-made ventilation system, pre-wired fiber-optic internet and European-style tilt-and-turn windows.

Doug Selby of Volta Homes is the mastermind behind this Green Project. He has over 25 years of designing and green building experience and is a Certified Passive House Consultant. The Bridge is a project born of Selby’s personal commitment to Green Home Projects. He aims to push the limits of livable sustainability.

The four luxury condos at Old Fourth Ward hit the market recently, at price points of $1.4 million to $2.4 million. There is the option for buyers to customize their finishes and interiors. The floor plans are each unique ranging from a 1,997-square-foot, four-bedroom garden level unit to a 2,415-square-foot, three-bedroom, penthouse unit with office and lounge.

Altogether careful planning and expert design at Bridge make this Green Project a sustainable and everlasting luxury.
