Alaska allocates $7 million to build energy-efficient homes
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy and the Alaska State Legislature allocated $7 million from the 2025 Capital Budget to a New Home Construction Rebate to be administered by the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC). This targeted investment is designed to increase housing inventory while ensuring that new homes meet modern efficiency standards that will benefit Alaska families for decades. The rebate has the potential to support the construction of 650 new homes statewide.
“This rebate specifically targets the undersupply of new homes throughout Alaska and is a significant step aimed at jumpstarting new construction statewide,” said Bryan Butcher, AHFC CEO and executive director. “This is a terrific opportunity to upgrade new inventory with innovative designs, while simultaneously increasing the availability of more energy-efficient homes.”
