Green Project of the Week: Sustainable 9
The team at Sustainable 9 values certifiable sustainability, “Our nine core sustainability principles keep us accountable in every step of the homebuilding process—from sourcing eco-friendly materials to designing and constructing energy-efficient, sustainable homes that stand the test of time.” This project in particular is Certified Green Path, Energy Star, EPA Indoor AirPlus and DOE Zero Energy Ready Home.
Completed in 2025, the project features four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a two car garage. Located in the Highland Park neighborhood in St. Paul, Minn., the project is centered around the site’s unique views of the Mississippi River. The project blends sustainability with serene luxury. The carefully designed solar array on the metal roof complements the architectural design. The interior of the home offers expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing providing an abundance of natural light but also the triple pane windows assist in the home’s livability and sustainable goals. The home features LED lighting and geothermal forced air HVAC. It received a HERS Score of 40 and air leakage is at 0.92 ACH50.
The design team consisted of Unfold Architecture and interior design from Sustainable 9. This builder is a fine example of elegance and energy excellence.
