NAHB Insight: Private Residential Construction Spending Increases

Building a sustainable home may be easier than ever, and increasing. The NAHB construction spending index indicated that private residential construction spending increased 0.1% in June. While this may seem like a small number, it broke a six month consecutive decline.

The improvement compared to a year ago, single-family construction spending decreased by 2.1%. This index is according to U.S. Census Construction Spending data. The NAHB construction spending index gives insight into the construction spending trends. “The index illustrates how spending on single-family construction has slowed since early 2024 under the pressure of elevated interest rates and concerns over building material tariffs.” saidĀ
