New efficient HVAC tech features solar panels and wind turbines

A new HVAC system is currently being developed by researchers at a university with solar panels, wind turbines and two kinds of heat pumps. This project looks at renewable energy to fuel heat pumps while reducing energy costs and grid reliance. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, about 47% of dwellings using natural gas as the primary source of fuel. Despite heat pumps being about five-times more efficient than traditional systems many are still uneducated on the benefits of energy efficient HVAC systems.

Their research was published in the journal, Energy. The integration of renewable energy generation and heat pump systems has the potential to achieve the zero-energy goal of building energy systems,” wrote the experts. “The research finding shows that the energy interaction management strategy is effective.”
