Officials vote on building code changes
Last week, local officials began voting on proposed changes to building codes. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) urged home builders to share their positions on proposed changes to code officials. NAHB noted their support for building codes that result in safe, decent and affordable housing, in alignment with the organizational mission.
The International Code Council began its online governmental consensus vote to determine what changes will be made to building codes. The current code development cycle will determine changes in the 2027 codes and combine Group A and Group B into one vote, including codes of importance to home builders, such as the International Residential Code, the International Building Code, the International Existing Building Code, the International Fire Code and the International Fire and Wildland-Urban Interface Codes.
