Realtors residential sustainability report
The National Association of Realtors releases their 2025 sustainability report. Almost a majority, 42% of respondents reported being involved with a property with green features in the past 12 months. A big takeaway is realtors are noticing their clients are more interested in shopping for sustainable features. A key feature that they look for is green windows, doors and siding with 37% rating it is very important. The biggest gap in knowledge reported is understanding how solar panels impact transactions (58%) and valuing homes with solar panels (52%). Financial incentives for green features are still very important with 47% of respondents indicating that financial incentives such as tax credits or rebates would increase demand for sustainable homes the most, followed by higher resale value at 31% and consumer awareness of energy cost savings behind at 30%.
However, Green MLS data is underutilized, “44% said their MLS includes green data fields, but nearly half (47%) of those with access do not use them.”
