Sekisui House’s first U.S. SHAWOOD development wins top housing award
Sommers Bend, a zero-energy community in Temecula, Calif., won an Award of Excellence in the Construction and Development Project Category at the 9th JAPAN Construction International Award. This is the first time a detached home community has won the award. It is also Sekisui House, Ltd.’s first SHAWOOD community development in the United States.
Sommers Bend was developed and designed in Japan with resilient features, solar panels and battery storage systems to support energy efficiency. The project has won other notable housing industry awards, including a SoCal MAME Award, a Gold Nugget Award and awards from The Nationals.
Sekisui House announced that SHAWOOD continues to expand throughout the western market to deliver 3,000 homes annually by 2031.
