USGBC releases updated guide on IRA funding
The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) announced on Jan. 14, 2026, the release of an updated edition of their Buildings and Federal Policy Guidebook. The guidebook describes available opportunities post the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which impacted the availability of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding for green building programs and initiatives that were directed at both state and local level. The new guidebook provides green building policy and planning strategies, along with current examples of green building policies at a local or state level.
Such policies include the Home Efficiency Rebate program, including $4.3 billion of rebates to perform energy retrofits on current residential buildings and the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate program, consisting of about $4.3 billion of rebates and intended only for low- and moderate-income households to cover the costs of upgrades to electric appliances.
