DOE releases updates to Efficient New Homes Program
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released updates for its Efficient New Homes Program for projects with permit dates on or after Jan. 1, 2027.
The Efficient New Homes Program is formerly known as the Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH). The updates are aimed at increasing program flexibility and adding clarity to program requirements.
Key updates include extending Indoor AirPlus Version 1 acceptance through Dec. 31, 2028, streamlining documentation for the Energy Rating Index (ERI) pathway and expanding the Multifamily ASHRAE Phius pathway with four flexible compliance options based on energy thresholds, heat pumps, or common areas.
