Green Project of the Week: Awbrey Butte Net Zero Craftsman

Solaire Homebuilders’ net-zero, electric, custom craftsman home in Bend, Ore., was designed to be sustainable and reflective of the homeowners’ nomadic lifestyles. This 2,781-square-foot residence combines timeless craftsmanship with cutting-edge performance.

The clients were finally ready to settle after years of traveling the world and turned to the sustainable, custom builder. A high-performance envelope, solar power system and energy-efficient construction ensure the home produces as much energy as it consumes.

A ductless HVAC system allows for precise climate control, while the Energy Recovery Ventilator ensures optimal indoor air quality by balancing fresh air with energy-saving ventilation. The blown-in blanket insulation and Earth Advantage air seal minimize heat loss and help maintain an ideal temperature throughout the seasons.

Inside, the open-concept great room frames mountain views and connects seamlessly to a front porch built for sunset watching and a blend of indoor-outdoor living.
