Green Project of the Week: Grand Mesa Passive House
Located at the foot of Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Mesa, Colo., the Grand Mesa Passive House is a 1,934-square-foot, all-electric residence designed by Shape Architecture Studio and built by Phoenix Haus. The Passive House-certified home features three bedrooms, a flexible loft and a high-performance building envelope constructed with prefabricated, low-carbon wall panels assembled on-site in just five days.
Designed for energy efficiency, comfort and durability, the home incorporates triple-pane windows, radiant floor heating powered by an air-source heat pump and a high-efficiency heat recovery ventilation system. A 6-kilowatt solar array supports net-zero or near-net-zero energy performance, while carefully positioned windows maximize natural light and passive solar gain.
