What to know about DOE’s Efficient New Homes Program updates
Every fall, the Department of Energy (DOE) releases updated program documents for the Efficient New Homes Program, previously ZERH, reflecting feedback from builders and raters. The updates for DOE’s Efficient New Homes Program apply to projects with permit dates on or after Jan. 1, 2027.
Updates include extending Indoor AirPlus Version 1 acceptance through Dec. 31, 2028, streamlining documentation for the Energy Rating Index pathway and expanding the Multifamily ASHRAE Phius pathway with four flexible compliance options based on energy thresholds, heat pumps or common areas.
