Green Project of the Week: LEED Gold-certified in Glenview
This 9,700-square-foot, transitional prairie-style home performs beyond its beautiful design; the home is LEED Gold-certified. Located in Glenview, Ill., the project is the first to earn gold-level LEED certification in the city, a testament to Scott Simpson Design + Build.
The house has the most geothermal energy heat pumps of any project from Scott Simpson Design + Build. The builder also included thoughtful, drought-resistant landscaping, allowing rainwater to be harvested by two large below-ground tanks. The tanks’ stored water can be readily reclaimed for irrigation. Solar panels are strategically placed to be out of sight on the roof, powering electricity throughout the home.
