Wave energy pilot project could power California homes
In the fall, Eco Wave Power launched the first-ever onshore wave energy pilot project station at the Port of Los Angeles. The project, in collaboration with Shell International Exploration and Production Inc. recently released its final project completion report. The public news release confirmed feasibility with permitting, operational integrity, existing marine infrastructure and cost performance. The pilot program is a part of a larger sustainable electricity experimentation, with an ultimate goal to provide clean energy to power up to 60,000 homes.
While the project completion report is not publically available, reportings from the company indicate successful technical and operational objectives during the energy pilot project.
“This project followed a clear and disciplined development path — beginning with a comprehensive feasibility study of the U.S. coastline, advancing through engineering, installation and operational testing and concluding with final delivery under the Pilot Test Agreement with Shell,” said Inna Braverman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Eco Wave Power “Successfully completing the full scope of this program demonstrates Eco Wave Power’s ability to execute complex wave energy projects together with leading global energy companies.”
