Green Project of the Week: Modern Home in Maryland
This modern custom farmhouse in Bethesda, Md., by August Homes blends clean architectural lines with warm, livable interiors and high-performance construction. Built for comfort, efficiency and long-term resilience, this high-performance Maryland home incorporates passive design and net-zero principles with a focus on energy independence. As an ENERGY STAR partner and Phius-certified builder, the Modern Home in Maryland project was designed to be LEED-certified and an EPA Indoor AirPlus qualified home.

The builder designed the residence with expansive windows, natural materials, layered textures and refined contemporary finishes, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere throughout. The farmhouse-inspired home features open-concept living spaces, a luxury chef’s kitchen with custom cabinetry and an oversized island, dramatic gathering spaces filled with natural light and spa-inspired bathrooms with elevated designer finishes. The 7,150-square-foot luxury home includes six bedrooms and a six-a-half bathrooms. Every detail was designed to balance modern aesthetics with performance-driven construction.
