Rebuild begins after Caldor Fire
Nearly five years after the Caldor Fire tore through parts of El Dorado, Alpine and Amador counties in California, rebuilding is finally within reach. HomeAid Sacramento, in partnership with El Dorado County and local builders, plans to build and donate six homes this year to families who lost everything in the fire. The victims currently reside in trailers on top of where their homes once stood.
The county approved a $550,000 grant for the project, while HomeAid raised about $150,000 to support construction costs.
“To rebuild a home suitable for the specific needs and dynamics of these families as they navigate the trauma that they’ve experienced,” said Amber Celmer with HomeAid Sacramento when discussing the project.
