Bryant neighborhood celebrates clean energy milestone
As part of a grant-supported pilot project, two homes were connected to receive and store renewable and reliable energy from the Ann Arbor Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU). The SEU’s first solar panel and battery storage systems were installed on homes in the Bryant neighborhood in Ann Arbor, Mich., on May 18, 2026. Approximately 100 homes in the neighborhood are slated for SEU installations before the pilot wraps up later in the year.
The Ann Arbor SEU is a first-of-its-kind municipal energy utility, providing residents and businesses with 100% local, renewable and clean energy solutions.
“We’re excited residents of our Bryant neighborhood now have an energy choice: the SEU, 100% renewable, reliable, affordable energy,” said Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor. “Some SEU customers are also receiving new no-cost windows, efficient appliances, insulation and even roofs, all with no new taxes.”
“It’s been a joy to partner and make history with Bryant residents as we launch the Ann Arbor Sustainable Energy Utility pilot program,” said SEU Executive Director Shoshannah Lenski. “Residents have expressed excitement about the SEU’s reliability and affordability, but also that they’re thrilled to be taking part in promoting a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.”
