Green Project of the Week: Leawood Living
Built in Leawood, Kan., this 5,700-square-foot home is the epitome of exceptional comfort, health, durability and sustainability. Every layer and detail was designed for high-performance, from the continuous exterior insulation in the airtight building envelope to Phius-certified windows and doors with thermally broken frames. The project was also installed with an ERV system that provides whisper-quiet mechanical ventilation and scored a HERS index score of 31.
The builder, Kala, collaborated with the project’s architect, SixTwentyOne, to ensure high-performance details were included from the beginning of the process on the Leawood Living project. Therese Wickey worked meticulously to ensure that the home’s interior design performed just as well as the exterior and envelope did, making sure that the project did not sacrifice style.
