Energy Smart Eastside reaches heat pump installation milestone
Energy Smart Eastside (ESE), a collaboration of six Eastside cities in Washington supporting equitable access to clean home energy solutions, installed its 1,000th heat pump. Installed over the last four years since ESE launched in 2022, the heat pumps have helped reduce emissions from residential energy use, one of the region’s largest sources of climate pollution, cutting more than 31,000 metric tons of carbon emissions so far.
The ESE program includes the cities of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond and Sammamish.
The milestone 1,000th installation took place at the home of Issaquah, Wash., resident Jenni Treadway. Treadway said that she hopes other communities follow in Issaquah’s footsteps in reducing emissions through heat pump installations.
