Green Project of the Week: South Shore
Taylorsmith Sustainable Construction designed South Shore to be a Certified Net Zero Ready and Energy Star Home. The project was originally a 1950s ranch in desperate need of attention. The builder deconstructed the home down to the studs, reconfigured it and installed an all-electric energy retrofit with a backup power generation system.

The project features an extremely air-tight envelope of – 1.18 ACH and a 2” continuous exterior rigid insulation. Additional sustainable features include a high-efficiency 23 SEER Modulating Heat Pump with High Efficiency Whole-Home Ventilation and HEPA Air Filtration, a high-efficiency heat pump water heater, a custom 14’ tall white oak Screen wall with an integrated staircase and new high-performing windows throughout.
