Green Project of the Week: Hill House
Green Hammer Design Build’s Hill House is a modern net-zero energy house tucked into the ledges along the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. The 3,200 square-foot house is built to the Passive House standard, with energy-efficient features such as triple-pane windows, exterior insulation and advanced heat recovery ventilation. A 7-kilowatt rooftop solar array produces more energy than the house consumes.
The Hill House is Earth Advantage and FSC-certified, accompanied by elevated living features such as a rooftop sky observation deck, a vaulted living-kitchen-dining area, a built-in entertainment center, a home gym and a library. Multiple covered deck areas clad with cedar reclaimed from a deconstructed timber frame bridge provide inviting spaces to rest and contemplate the river, sky and savannah oak canopy views.
