Michigan wows market with concrete dome house listing

Located in Brighton, Mich., an energy-efficient concrete dome house with mid-century features has been listed for $499,900. The 2,457-square-foot home was originally built in 1979, but underwent a massive renovation.

Built with highly sustainable features and reclaimed wooden accents, the structure is easy to heat and cool according to Michigan’s climate.

The home’s two-story living room, with a loft-style area above, features a sunken conversation pit centered around a fireplace, with a circular staircase uniquely placed overhead. This space serves as the project’s focal point.

“The feeling from the living room with the main fireplace and how the stairs go up the center of the dome is incredible,” said listing agent Carie Peregord of Re/Max Edge. “When you are in the upstairs bedrooms, it feels like you are really protected in a cozy bird’s nest.”
