New York launches New Efficient Homes program
New York Governor Hochul announced a new program for builders in the state: the New Efficient Homes program.
The program represents a $135 million investment, part of the Governor’s “Let Them Build” agenda, to facilitate residential new construction using high-performance technology.
$75 million of the funding will support the heat pump incentive program. $25 million is dedicated to the Enhanced Design Support program, available to homebuilders, developers and design firms for single-family homes with fully electric HVAC systems.
The state also awarded more than $12 million to 10 projects in its Buildings of Excellence Competition, which rewards energy-efficient multifamily buildings.
“New York is committed to building the housing we need while ensuring future homes are energy-efficient, comfortable and affordable,” said Governor Hochul. “Today’s announcement is another example of how we are advancing the “Let them Build” agenda by implementing programs that lower upfront costs and provide the necessary tools and resources to construct modern homes in communities across New York State.”
