EPA delivers $200 million for heat pump installation in Colorado

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) was recently awarded with a $200 million grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This funding is a part of the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program, DRCOG was one of the 25 applicants chosen.

DRCOG plans to use this funding towards providing free home retrofits and upgrade services, offering free energy advising to residential, multifamily, and commercial building owners, providing rebates and incentives to accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency and electrification and establishing a building policy collaborative to advance ambitious building policies at the local level.

DRCOG intends to inform residents on heat pumps and installing them instead of traditional gas furnaces.

“DRCOG was very fortunate to be awarded a $200 million grant from the EPA, basically to make the region’s buildings healthier and cleaner by installing heat pumps instead of traditional gas furnaces,” said Robert Spotts at the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
