Green Project of the Week: 5685 Skyline Blvd
Scott O’Hara Construction, Inc., built this net-zero Californian home as an all-electric home. Located in Martinez, Calif., the 5685 Skyline Blvd project has an HRV whole-house ventilation system and a solar PV system to offset all energy use. The home has minimal framing and a conventional design to increase insulation. The project was engineered with tight ductwork installed in a sealed crawlspace to reduce energy loss.
The 5685 Skyline Blvd is 3,250 square feet, with four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The interior’s soft lighting and neutral color palette encourage wellness, contrasted by dark wooden cabinetry in the kitchen and bathrooms. Contemporary minimalism is key in this project. The home’s site location provides breathtaking views of San Francisco Bay.
