KB Home releases sustainability report

KB Home, one of the nation’s largest energy-efficient homebuilders, released its sustainability report detailing sustainable milestones and year-over-year results. KB Home reported to build an estimated 217,000 ENERGY STAR certified homes with 31,000 WaterSense labeled and Water Smart homes. Its average HERS Index score was 43. The builder also reported to build 3,393 solar-powered new homes in 2025. Additionally, of the 12,902 new KB homeowners in 2025, about half are first-time homebuyers.

Since 2000, KB Home built over 217,000 ENERGY STAR certified homes, the company estimated this has led to $1.3 billion in energy savings for homeowners.

This is the builder’s 19th year of publicly disclosing its sustainability results.

“We believe that sustainability plays a critical role in this approach,” wrote  Jeffrey Mezger, Executive Chairman of the Board and Robert McGibney,  President and Chief Executive Officer in its executive statement. “Building sustainable homes and expanding access to homeownership are not competing priorities. They are one and the same.”
